Carbon cylinders are products of modern composite technology. The weight saving is approx. 70% compared to a steel diving cylinder. The pressure vessel of this composite material consists of an inliner, which, depending on the manufacturer, is made of aluminium, stainless steel or a highly resilient cured material. The inliner is the component that makes the cylinder gas-tight. The force-absorbing layer is the coating with carbon fibres and epoxy resin. The extremely light materials ensure a low empty weight of the cylinders. This weight advantage is particularly useful for fire brigades or for mobile use.
