In cold waters, diving cylinders are often used with two regulators for safety reasons. In order to have a second outlet, secondary outlets are mounted on the main valves of the diving cylinders. These second valves can usually be shut off individually so that in the event of failure or icing up of a first stage, this outlet can be closed individually. In diving, secondary outlets with G5/8″ or M16x1 connection threads are widely used. The main distinguishing features of the secondary outlets for diving cylinder valves are that they can be rotated under pressure or are fixed.
